Location: Myrtle Beach, S.C. • Title: Front-End Developer • Years worked: 2014 - 2018
With more than 4 million visitors and 10 million page views per year, MyrtleBeach.com is the largest independently-owned tourism site for planning a vacation to South Carolina's beautiful "Grand Strand".
During my time here, my skills as a developer grew exponentially. In addition to front-end work such as making mockups, creating responsive e-mail templates and designing new pages, I also built full sites, managed e-mail databases and executed technical optimizations for SEO.
All the while, I continued to create engaging content, publishing blogs, videos and interactive graphics that became some of these sites’ biggest traffic drivers.
In May 2017, my team completed a full re-design of our main site, MyrtleBeach.com, moving from legacy CMS ExpressionEngine to Wordpress. As project manager for this massive, year-long project I not only learned to lead and collaborate with a team of developers, but also how to plan a site, dissect data architecture, conduct user testing and use the results to craft a better user experience.
