Rose and Arrow Records, a record company started in Myrtle Beach this summer, will release the label's album just in time for the holidays.
This inaugural release, out Dec. 1, is a Christmas compilation called “Christmas Is Still Christmas (Whether It’s Snowing Or Not)”. The disc features 12 tracks including covers of classic Christmas tunes as well as originals by South Carolina artists such as Ben Coy, Attalaya, The Fire Tonight, Wrath of Athens, and many more.
The album can be pre-ordered or purchased by going to RoseandArrowRecords.com or you can buy a digital copy at Amazon and iTunes.
Here's a quick sample of the music featured on the album as well as a closer look at the folks featured:
The Restoration - "Go Tell It on the Mountain" - This Lexington, S.C., band performs a modern blend of classically-themed music that perserves the history of the region while building a name for themselves around the state with their unique style of music. On the disc, they perform the classic African-American spiritual song. For more on the band or to download their April release "Constance" visit www.therestoration.net
Storyteller - "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" - Rose and Arrow's own Michael Mai is a local singer-songwriter that performs in the area as Storyteller, an act dedicated to telling rich stories and delivering them musically to the audience. American Gun - "Christmas Song" - This Columbia band plays a clever and at times tongue-in-cheek blend of Country, rock and Americana. With three full-length albums under their belts and opening spots for the likes of Drivn' N Cryin', Shooter Jennnings and others, they are a band to watch on the S.C. scene. American Parts - "Fixing The Cracks" - Members of former area band Attalaya, have continued to to play music together and recently reformed as American Parts.
