Halloween has long since passed, but never a place to the let seasons get in the way of interesting music on the local scene Drink! will once again bring a group of masked marauders to town as Grave Robber performs tonight with Bitterseed.
For those not familiar with Grave Robber, the name and a stage presence — which includes band members named Wretched, Carcass, Lamentor and Plague performing in demon masks and fake blood-spattered outfits — might have you thinking their music lies in the hardcore death metal genre. However, the Fort Wayne, IN-based quartet's sound actually lies more squarely in the punk/hard rock realm with tunes in the vein of The Misfits or Danzig.
A horror-theme permeates throughout the bands song and overall aura, but the music itself is surprisingly subdued. Songs such as "Fill This Place With Blood," "Rigor Mortis" and "I'm Possesed" are actually well composed punk rock efforts that are much less obnoxious musically than their titles would have you believe.
It's an odd contrast to the group's in-your-face and occasionally overwhelming image, but it's something that seems to work for an act with two full-length releases under their belts that has had success touring down the east coast and through the midwest.
In addtion, the show will feature local rock/hardcore act Bitterseed as an opening act. The Aynor quartet, which consists of Jon Clark (Vocals), Bob Hall (Drums), Kelly Martin (Guitar) and Josh Strickland (Bass) has been playing in the area for more than two years, soldiering on to continue to make the music they love despite numerous lineup change.
Their sound covers the spectrum of rock from an occasional acoustic rock piece to all-out hardcore screaming. It's a bit hard to pin down, but is probably best experienced by listening to their music on Facebook or Myspace.

The show will begin at 9 p.m. tonight with a $5 cover to get in. Check out Drink! on Facebook for more details.
