Choosing where to spend your Halloween weekend can be a scary task. There's so many great parties, shows and events, its enough to make your head spin like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.
But for local music fans need look no further than Drink! in downtown Myrtle Beach for a weekend full of dream lineups featuring some of the biggest bands in the history of music.
With giants such as Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Weezer and Metallica performing alongside the likes of Johnny Cash, Otis Redding and The Pixies, Friday's "Halloween Fest" and Saturday's "HorrorFest II" promise to be once-in-a-lifetime shows.
Ok, so the trick is up. These legendary musicians won't actually treat Myrtle Beach with their presence.
They will, however, live on in spirit with local bands performing as some of their favorite acts.
"It's a tribute show. They're dressing up, doing their songs, going the whole nine yards," said Kris Amendola, owner of Drink! "Some of these bands get really into it."
The shows will feature an eclectic mix of music and promise to give fans plenty of bang for their buck with eight bands scheduled on Friday and seven on Saturday.
"It's a great idea that got started last year. We had the bands perform as other bands and had a big block party between here and The Basement,"said Kris Amendola, owner of Drink! "And even though it's just us this year, we're still gonna do it and have a good time."
Some bands in the mix that Amendola made sure to point out were local acts such as Sleeping Policeman who will play as blues-rock duo The Black Keys, Below The Bassline performing as ska/punk revivalists Operation Ivy and Bazooka Joe doing punk rock's ANTiSEEN. Also coming from out of town will be a Charleston, W. Va., band called Freak Tent who will portray the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"This is gonna be the only place to be," she said. "Where else can you see some of your favorite local bands playing as some of your favorite known bands? It's going to be a great time, and it's where all the cool kids are gonna be."
