Location: Delaware, Ohio • Title: Front-End Developer • Years worked: 2018-2019
As I was wrapping up the re-design for Ohio.org, I got a call out of the blue from JEGS High Performance and was recruited into a role as the company’s first-ever full-time Front-end Developer.
After many years of being involved in the tourism industry, this offered a great opportunity to explore new frontiers and get my feet wet in the wild world of eCommerce.
Going to work from day one on a large-scale overhaul of an outdated website, I led the transition to a responsive, full-width design of Jegs.com which launched in October.
During this process, I got a crash course in shopping, purchasing and order processing flows, and learned a ton about what it takes to convert sales in the retail space while striving to create a clean, efficient user experience.
As we move forward with this refreshed site — which sees more than 70 million page views per year — I’ll be responsible for continuing to improve the UI through A/B testing and other research as well as doing technical optimizations, page design and other content creation.
Here are some side-by-side comparisons of the Jegs.com website before and after its full-width design overhaul:
