Hometown: Myrtle Beach
Born on the Fourth of July, this New Yorker developed a love for music at early age watching his father, Joseph P. Tozzi who played trumpet and his uncles Arty and Charlie Muller who introduced him to the guitar and washtub — aka the “gut bucket.”
As a teenager, Digger learned to play guitar and rack mount harp refining his technique from listening to the likes of James Cotton, Jr. Wells, Sonny Boy Williamson, Sonny Terry and Little Walter to name a few.
Also a skilled carpenter, Tozzi is well known locally for his ability to restore and duplicate vintage guitar amps.
After several decades of perfecting his sound and craft, Tozzi now make Blues music and “Digger T” brand amps for a living and is a member of the Grand Strand Blues Society.
