Willie Winns Jr. (aka Dominant) is a 23-year-old rising star that discovered his musical talent in the second grade.
While growing his career in music, Dominant drew inspiration from his neighbor, Zaybo and his local rap group Drunken Gambinoz. He also credits Kris Kross, No Limit, and Cash Money Hot Boyz in playing an influential role in his career.
In 2004 Dominant formed the rap group called Da Heatspeakers which managed to create a buzz for themselves throughout the Carolinas before parting ways in 2008.
He released his first solo demo titled “Just a Taste” in summer 2008, and gained notoriety with his single “J’s On My Feet” which was featured on local radio station 98.5 KISS FM and had a successful seven week winning streak on the their “Battle of the Local Jams” on-air contest.
In 2009, he teamed up with DJ Dynamite and released his first official mixtape “On My Way to Stardom” which aimed to show the rapper’s versatility.
Since that time he continues to work as a solo artist and collaborate with some of the region's best on releases and mixtapes.
