    Labor Day Weekend

As usual for us, Labor Day weekend is one of the biggest holidays of the year and generally one of the most busy. With visitors in town and hosting a slew of friends for our annual fantasy football draft party, it can all get a bit hectic and even too much to handle sometimes. But this year, even in the face of buying our first home and moving in less than a week, everything went really smoothly and we were able to have a great time.

My dad came in town last Wednesday and stayed for a nice, long visit as did Heidi and I's best friends from back home who came and vacationed in Myrtle for an entire week leading up to the draft. There was alot going on but we were all able to get out a few nights (Senor Frogs, P.F. Changs) stay in a few nights (Wii Sports Resort, Grilling steaks and burgers) and have some fun. My friend Tim came in town Friday from D.C. and stayed for a couple days, which was fun seeing him again and meeting his new girlfriend Kat, who was very pleasantly British and had great fun playing with Miles and helping watch him while we all drafted.

The big day was Saturday, and although we ended up getting started a bit late (as I anticipated, hence the noon start time instead of 1 p.m.) the draft more or less went off without much trouble. There were only a few minor techinical glitches...including our internet connection going down for a minute, but it actually went alot faster this year as we did the whole thing online. We hooked up a TV monitor to the computer instead of using the old-school paper draft board. In addition, I drafted a stellar team that will surely be derailed at multiple times throughout the season by shoody management. Here's a couple pictures from the draft, Heidi has a ton more in her Facebook albums, so check them out and comment her up (it's what she lives for, I think):

Sunday we went to the Ripley's Aquarium with everyone and then had dinner at Longbeard's in Carolina Forest (near the new house!) before everyone headed for home either late Sunday or early Monday. That left us all day yesterday, to pack pack pack pack pack. I can by no means say we are done, but I after a good 10-12 hours yesterday I can now say I can actually imagine being done with this place as we have most of the loose things in boxes in the garage and even alot of the smaller furniture moved out.

Still not exactly sure of our closing date (should be Thursday or Friday), but I should find out for sure today or tommorow. Honestly at this point it doesn't matter much. I have the moving van ordered for Saturday, so one way or another we are up and out by this weekend. It's gonna be hard to get back to work to round out this week before taking the entire next week off for furlough to move and get settled in the new house. At this point we've done so much waiting, I can barely contain myself for these last few days. I'm ready to go already!
