    Christmas in Myrtle

In the immortal words of Run DMC (or at least sung to the tune of "Christmas in Hollis"):

It's Christmas time in Myrtle Beach.
Mom's cooking turkey and baby's asleep
We made some cookies on Christmas Eve
And daddy put together gifts under the tree

Alright, enough rapping on that. It's Christmas morning about 8:30 a.m. and unlike the thousands of other families who wake up early on Christmas morn in a rush to open their new Christmas gifts, my family is fast asleep and will likely remain that way until 10 a.m. or so. Now I don't blame Miles for sleeping in as he's still only 19 months old and really has no idea what all is in store for him on this HUGE day of unwrapping and playing. Honestly I figure he probably needs all the sleep he can get.

My sleepyhead wife, on the other hand... well I suppose I can't be too hard on her either, as she did stay up past midnight with my constructing a rocking horse and Cozy Coupe (seemingly from scratch...stupid little parts). And she will likely be the one watching Miles and cleaning up while I nap this afternoon, resting for the big NFL game tonight which marks the beginning of the final week of fantasy football, in which I still have a chance to bring home the championship and cash prize (GO Jim Tressel School of Conservative Coaching Hedgers!).

But anyways, since I had some time to kill I just wanted to get on here and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! To all my family, in Ohio, we wish were there...hope you all are having a great time. We'll surely be making a trip up that way this year, but with all the things we have stuffed under this tree there was no way they were fiiting in the car with us (or in an RV with us for that matter).

I can't wait to see Miles' face as he really starts to get what's going on and begins to love the magic of Christmas, like so many of us have when we were young. He has already fallen in love with following Santa this year, between seeing him in person, on TV and tracking him through NORAD all last night, I can't wait to see how things progress as he gets older and older.

Here's a few quick shots of the scene down here, a sort of "before" photo -- I'll make sure to post the "after" later -- as well as a shot of Miles enjoying his first two gifts of the season: A pair of holiday PJs and a book that Grammy bought him to read on Christmas Eve.

    Best. Commercial. Ever.

It's nearly 2 minutes long, so I know Nike is shelling out some major cash to play this on the air, but it is well worth it. One of the funniest commericals I've seen in a LOOOOONg time. I didn't look it up, but I gotta believe that is KRS-One doing the Santa rap and the rest are pretty on point as well. I doubt I'll ever buy anything from Nike Basketball, but I went to the damn website just to see more of these puppets and hell why not give the multi-billion dollar company a plug anyway for coming up with something this brillant. Sketchy Santas

Thanks to the glory of Facebook, and the magical connecting powers of the internet which allow me to "know" people I don't really know, here are some gems of holiday happiness from SketchySantas.com (Thanks to Paul Reynolds for the heads up). There are plenty more of these odd photos on the site, so go check it out...unfortunately I can only post a few here.

    Mustachioed Molester Santa

    Oddly Obese Santa

    Scary Suspenders Santa

And if that wasn't enough, here's a few of our very own Sketchy Santa photos from Miles' breakfast with Santa a couple weeks ago. (To be fair Santa didn't seem all that sketchy, but Miles was still terrified of him nonetheless).

    Gold Adidas'

Seriously folks, when the hell are a pair of these going to mysteriously show up on my doorstep.

    Or maybe some of these...

    Or even these...

Ever since I found this dope Ecko jacket on sale at the outlet while Christmas shopping I've come to the conclusion that my next pair of Adidas' must be gold. Not only are they fresh as can be and flashy to boot, but it's one of the few colors I don't have represented in some form or another.

Yes, I know it's ridiculous...but who do you know that isn't unnaturally obsessed with some sort of strange material goods? Yours might be Gucci purses or Birkenstocks Sandals or Starbucks Coffee. Mine is one-of-a-kind Adidas'. Who knows, maybe I'll have some truly one of a kind sneaks coming my way though...I did ask Santa for these.

    Miles' first second Christmas Gift

We're closing in on the big day here, with only 10 days left until Christmas but already Miles has opened the first gift of his second Christmas. No, I'm not going to be a crazy person that counts the holidays for the rest of his life, but this is always a special time of year and is already much more interesting than last year for the little guy.

It's not as though he's knows its Christmas or that he's excited or wanting anything yet, but he's definitely much more spirited in his participation of things such as tree trimming, watching holiday specials, etc.

He's started to notice Santa and will usually give a good jolly "Ho!" when he sees any sort of Santa. Unfortunately the real thing seemed to be a little too much for him though. We took him to Hard Rock Cafe for a breakfast with Santa over the weekend, and while he loved watching him from afar...he bawled the entire time we tried to sit him on Santa' s lap and get pictures.

Here's the video of him opening the gift he got from Grammy in the mail, I thought I'd post it for everyone to see just how big he's getting. And this is just the start...we also have a rocking horse, fisher price car, big wheel and various other big time gifts coming, so it's gonna be a fun one for sure.
